The Policy of the Company is to ensure a Healthy & Safe Working Environment at Sea, Prevention of Human Injury or Loss of Life and avoidance of damage to the Property.

Therefore the Company establishes a proactive approach to Ship Management, both ashore and onboard, that includes identification of hazards (including exposures to substances hazardous to health) and the implementation of preventive and mitigation measures.

Main Objectives

Health & Safety Objectives of the Company:
• Zero level of accident;
• Promotion of the culture of working in a safe & healthy environment, to a way of life;

In order to achieve the objectives, the Company:
• Ensures the Master is given the necessary support to safely perform his duties
• Provides safe working practices in ship operation and a healthy and safe working environment;
• Establish safeguards against all identified risks;
• Continuously improve safety management skills of personnel ashore and aboard ships, including preparing for emergencies related both to safety & health;
• Systematically identify hazards and measures to eliminate or reduce risks to the lowest practicable level;
• Promote a no-blame culture and motivate staff to ensure that they understand and embrace the requirements of the ship management system;

The Company Management System ensures:
• Compliance with mandatory rules & regulations;
• Applicable rules, regulations, codes, guidelines and standards recommended by International Maritime Organization, Administration, Classification Societies, Maritime and Oil Transport Industry, are embraced;
• The policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels in the organization, while ultimate responsibility remains with the management;
• The organization efforts aim at preventing errors, hazardous situations and incidents. Should this occur, every employee ashore and onboard is required to participate in determining and eliminating the possible causes, in order to prevent recurrence in the future
• Contingency plans and provisions for regularly exercising them are established, so that shore-based and shipboard organization can respond effectively at any time to hazards, accidents and emergencies involving the ship.
 

Stop the Job Policy

All Accident and incidents are preventable. 
 
All Crew members, employees and contractors must always follow the Safety and Risk assessment process of the company to prevent accidents or incidents involving people, equipment or the environment whilst carrying out work tasks. 
 
The STOP THE JOB POLICY is an important part of the safety system within the Company. 
 
All visitors, employees and crew members have the right to stop the job in progress if a risk is observed that could lead to injury, damage to equipment or the environment. 
 
You have the right to STOP THE JOB with the knowledge that no retribution or punishment can be imposed on you for stopping the job as long as the policy has been implemented in good faith. 
 
A STOP JOB situation should be reported immediately to the persons supervisor who in turn will inform vessel and /or operational management. 
 
A stand down for safety meeting must be held and the task is not to continue until all issues and concerns are reassessed and resolved.
 

Quality Policy

The Company to achieve Safety and Environmental Excellence in Ship Management establishes and maintains a quality management system, customer focused, aiming to the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction by accomplishing the following main objectives:
 
Main Objectives:
Develop a proactive approach to safety management, both onboard and ashore, that includes identification of hazards (including exposure to substances hazardous to health) and the implementation of preventive and mitigation measures.
Establish procedures for evaluating and managing changes to operations, procedures, ship’s equipment or personnel to ensure that safety and environmental standards are not compromised;
Develop a proactive approach to environmental management that includes identification of sources of marine and atmospheric pollution and measures for the reduction of potential impacts onboard;
Establish security preventive measures and contingency plans to protect the ship, its crew, cargoes and visited ports from illegal practices. Develop a cyber security defense, both onboard and ashore, that includes identification of hazards and the implementation of preventive and mitigation hazards;
Establish maintenance standards so that all ships in the fleet are capable of operating safely without risk of an accident or detention;
Use effective investigation, reporting and follow up methods to learn from significant near misses and incidents and thus prevent recurrence;
Establish an emergency-preparedness system and regularly test it to ensure an ongoing ability to react effectively to an incident;
Establish and consistently apply navigational practices and bridge procedures in line with the regulatory and Company policies;
Establish and consistently apply planning and operational practices and procedures that support regulatory and Company Policies during cargo, ballast and mooring operations;
Compliance with charterer’s requirements, and all applicable legislation and regulations;
Provide direction and clearly define responsibilities and accountabilities at all levels of the organization of the Company;
Ensure that the fleet is supported by competent shore-based staff, who are committed to a high standard of fleet management;
Ensure that all ships in the fleet have competent crews who fully understand their roles and responsibilities and who are capable of working as an effective team;
Establish and implement appropriate measurement and feedback processes to focus on and drive continuous improvement.
 
In order to achieve the main objectives:
Top Management clearly defines and documents its policies for each of the aforementioned main objectives that cover all the activities undertaken by the Company.
 
Company ensures
Top management verifies the effectiveness of key management areas and progress towards safety and environmental excellence targets and standards is monitored against key performance indicators;
Top Management strives to benchmark its processes in order to identify further improvements to Company management system;
Policies, performance targets and standards are regularly reviewed, assessed and amended as necessary in order to continually improve the quality management system and satisfy charterer requirements.
 
 
Company Quality Representative
Top management appoints as Company Quality Representative the HSQE Manager, with direct access to the highest level of Company management. The HSQE Manager has the authority and responsibility to ensure the promotion of awareness of charterer requirements throughout the organization and to report the performance of the Company tanker management system to the top management, together with any need for improvement.
